Threat In The South Campaign Diary 3

Threat In The South

Campaign Diary 4

No I havn't ditched you I have just been busy. Now screw that here is what your here for. Enjoy.

As you can see from the title my campaign now has a title. 'Threat In The South' is our new title which takes into account the fact that Varth'Zuan (you know the warlock) lives in his massive castle in the south over the ocean which is fairly near like the Shire and Mordor except it won't take three large books to get there.

So anyway the game left of in the room where we left it last session. The party gathered outside the room where Draug was captive. But because Draug wasn't their the party left getting him off and I decided nothing would happen to him because I was hoping I'd be able to do a one on one session of him escaping.

So the party goes through the dungeon a bit more and comes across the cells where the monks were held captive. After a brief fight the monks were let out of the cells and the party met Veravar (remember her?) she introduces herself as Veravar The Holy Champion, which is her title so that makes sense.

Then we have some interesting developments. Loravar recognises one of the monks! And before everyone he reveals this is his long lost father. They have not seen each other for about ten years or so and in that time they have both been busy so that will be a interesting role play moment once they get a chance to talk.

They then proceed to turn around and rescue Draug Bardstomper and the party fights their way through the large group of orcs on the other side of the room. It was a nice thing for our party because the fight was easy, no one nearly died and Aldo the party's ranger got a kill something he does not get very often as he uses a short sword (1d6 of damage) That's a pretty lousy weapon.

This room had no loot planned and was pretty sad in the whole cool things department so I shook things up a bit. I told Aldo that while he was body shopping (that is looting the dead foes) that he found a elvish longsword.

Erador Elvish Longsword
1d8 (slashing) single handed. 1d10 two handed.
+1 to attacks and rolls with this weapon.
Crits on a 19-20

That's a pretty decent weapon and when  the session concluded we all left with smiles on our dials as my teacher would say.
And also this blog is a project which  I do in my spare time and I put a lot of time into it so please share and spread the love, so to speak.

If you want to play through this adventure with your party a free PDF will be uploaded soon, I just need to type it all up from my notes, which live in my note books and that could take a while.

Threat In The South- Campaign Diary 2

Campaign Diary Number 2

I have been thinking for a while which is why this post is a bit late. Sorry.
Anyway here it goes:

So this week we had only one session which is a bit smaller than last weeks.
It began when we left off last session cramped in a stair case with three goblin chiefs walking up the stairs. When the combat encounter began Kela Lalelalila our hafling wizard throws a ball of acid burning the goblins on contact.

The combat was over swiftly and the goblins were dragged into the corner and Looted for a small pile of gold. Then going down the stairs my group spent the next little while deciding where to go. The room itself was square and had door ways on each side. They spent so long deciding to do something I got bored.

So I promted the party cleric known as Draug Bardstomper to open one of the doors. Looking at my notes I realised Draug was now dead. Again. This isn't cool I had a lot of plans for this blue dragonborn.

Inside the room are four orcs who grabbed and attempt to tie up the first person to enter. I ruled that they wouldn't tie him up then attack him as my original plan detailed.
So I made it that they tied him to the table and stripped him of his weapons.

The people in my party were so busy arguing that they didn't notice him being kidnapped which kinda sucked. So I had to play my master card. Ushtark the monk noticing him being kidnapped.

Once the party was informed of him being taken they prepared for a siege of the room.

And that's were we left off.

Here is Kela our party wizard.

Lego Battle Of Hoth

Veering off my usual Dungeons and Dragons post I am posting something which some people will be drawen to and others pushed away from.
You see I play Lego even at my old age and often build something I wish to share with the world.
Unfortunately not a lot of the world sees this stuff but today I show a build I did some months ago and now finally having a means of sharing it. I intend to do just that.

You won't be surprised to find out that Star Wars is a fairly big part of my life and know taking back to the original trilogy I present the Battle of Hoth. (A very adapted one) I

And that all he wrote folks!

Verevar Holy Orc Champion.

Verevar Holy Orc Champion.

Wow another post!
This one is different compared to the campaign diary's which will be posted weekly. I did have another D&D session this week but reading about goblins smashing into my part for a hour isn't that interesting.

So here is my first non player character, Verevar is a female orc born. After devoting her life to the orc god and serving her chief and beyond that the warlock Varth'Zuan rising through the ranks she was a prodigy and quickly faced a promotion.

In the middle of battle she was struck down and fell unconscious. Lost in the folds of her mind she suffered a divine vision from the gods.
In the vision she instructed to become a holy champion for the religious group known as The Chosen Ones of Akazor. Finding the group hidden in the mountains she quickly settled into her new home. After being offered a position as a holy champion she began to fight again after years of peace.

And that's her back story! Here is a stat block for those of you who want to have a holychampion of your own!

Threat in The South Campaign Diary 1

Campaign Dairy Number 1

Welcome to my first campaign diary for my D&D campaign. Being unsure of a title/name I will leave it at that.

Now for some background info, for the past term me and my D&D group have being playing a game DMd by me Anarax the dungeon master.
The story itself follows a group of adventures hired by the Baron of Benigar. (Credit to Matt Colville) The group saved a small keep which before the war was used as a trading post. Which brings us to the topic of the war.
You see some 40 years prior to the events of current the Warlock Varth'Zuan rose to power he then tried to take control of everything. Defeated by Benigar he fled and now is raising another army. But Benigar is old and can't fight back personally so he hired my players to save everything.

Leaving the keep the party went to Sturm governed by Benigars brother. There they met Ushtark a small monk who urged them to go to his monastery and rescue the monks held their in captivity.
For the past few sessions it has been fight after fight and the party is working their way through the monastery.

Bursting through one door to find a group of eight goblins my party was outnumbered and out gunned.
The bard who goes by the name Loravar reacted first and cast some form of illusion. He wanted a dragon to appear and scare the goblins. I thought that was kinda cool, but a dragon would be to big for a small creature/object. It occurs to me now he could have summoned a young dragon, but at the time I was thinking huge beast with rippling blue scales and lots of spikes.
I ruled their fore yes: he could have a dragon but it would be a head poking through the window.
Loravar then cast charm person and tried to convince the goblins that they were friends despite the corpses in the room behind them. The goblins were chattering and were scared their bravado disappearing quickly.
Loravar made a big thing of 'killing' the dragon and the goblins were convinced by their new saviour.

Looking at the options the party decided to send the goblins to clear out the floor of reaming monsters. Another dilemma.
Charm person states: (As far as I am aware) that any attempt to make a charmed person harm its companions will end the spell.

Then I realised this:
Level of Power in Varth'Zuans empire
Humans.
Orcs.
Hobgoblins.
Goblins.

The goblins are a the bottom of that list so I made the call that they could and would willingly strike back at the people in power. Goblins in my story I wrote as part of the world were regarded as slaves and the lowest of all the races as far as Varth'Zuan cares, they would want to fight back.

So now sooner than expected my party has a group of followers.

Any thoughts?
